If you searched for a Google Hotel API, you probably want one of two things: the prices you see on Google Hotels, or a way to put your own hotel on it. Google has an API for the second. For the first, there is no public Google Hotel API.
This guide explains what Google's hotel APIs actually do, what you can get from the Places API, and what developers use when they need Google Hotels data. It also shows what each option costs and what to check before you build.
What people mean by "Google Hotel API"#
The phrase covers four different needs. Matching yours to the right row saves days.
| You want to... | What exists | Official? | Who can use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Show your hotel's rooms and rates on Google | Hotel Center, Hotel Prices feeds, Hotel Content | Yes | Hotels, booking sites and connectivity partners |
| Manage that account in code | Travel Partner API | Yes | Trusted partners |
| Get a hotel's name, rating and location | Places API (New) | Yes | Anyone with a Google Cloud key |
| Read prices shown on Google Hotels | SerpApi, DataForSEO, Apify and similar | No | Anyone who pays |
Why Google does not offer a price-reading API#
Google's own hotel developer page describes the reverse direction. It lists Hotel Prices (sending prices to Google), Hotel Content (sending hotel information), Vacation Rentals and Connectivity Partners, and it describes no public API for querying prices. In other words, the hotel prices on Google come from hotels and booking sites, and Google shows them.
That is why many pages titled "Google Hotel API" are confusing. Some are written by travel software resellers. One such page describes the API both as a way for partners to show rooms in Google and as a way for developers to search availability, and it never separates the two. Treat sales pages like that with care and rely on Google's own documentation.
The official Google hotel APIs (for sending data in)#
Hotel Prices and price feeds#
Hotels and partners send room rates for specific trips to Google. Google's help pages say hotels must provide price and availability through a price feed, directly or through an integration partner, and that working with a partner is recommended.
Hotel Content#
Used to send hotel details such as descriptions and facilities in Google's Lodging Format.
Travel Partner API#
The Travel Partner API is a REST interface to Hotel Center at https://travelpartner.googleapis.com. Its v3 resources cover:
- account links between Hotel Center and Google Ads
- brands and icons
- hotel listings and their Live on Google status
- price accuracy and price coverage views
- reports on performance, participation and reconciliation
It reads and changes your own Hotel Center data. It does not return other hotels' prices.
How access works: Google's authorization guide says you create a Google Cloud project, create a service account and key, share your Hotel Center account with that service account (which can take about 24 hours), request an access token with the right scope, and send it in the Authorization header. Tokens expire after one hour. The guide also says the Travel Partner API is limited to trusted partners and that your technical account manager can help if you cannot find it.
Best for: hotel chains, channel managers and connectivity partners already in Google's hotel program.
Option: Google Places API (New) for hotel details#
If you want a hotel's name, rating and location in your app, the Places API (New) is the official route that any developer can use. Place Details groups fields by billing tier, and a field mask is required:
- Essentials: address, location and
types(a lodging example shows"lodging") - Pro: display name, business status and Google Maps link
- Enterprise:
rating, userRatingCount, websiteUri,priceLevelandpriceRange - Enterprise + Atmosphere: reviews and summaries
Cost: Google's pricing page lists Place Details Enterprise at $20 per 1,000 requests for the first 100,000 monthly events, with 1,000 free per month. Text Search Enterprise is $35 per 1,000.
Watch out for: the page describes priceLevel and priceRange as price information for a place. We found no sign that they are date-specific room rates, so they will not replace live hotel prices.
Google's Maps Platform terms also restrict storing and reusing content. They bar prefetching or caching content for use outside the service, with a narrow exception for temporary storage of up to 30 days. They also bar using the content to build your own business listings dataset. The page we read is dated 2018 and points to a newer agreement, so read the current terms before you store anything.
Options that read Google Hotels prices (unofficial)#
These services read Google's public Google Hotels pages and give you the result as data. None of them are Google products. Google is in a legal dispute with one of them, SerpApi, which we explain in our guide to the Google search API options in 2026.
| Service | What it returns | Price as published |
|---|---|---|
| SerpApi | Hotels and rentals, nightly and total rates, booking sources, ratings, amenities | Free 250 searches a month, then $25 for 1,000 |
| DataForSEO | Hotel searches, hotel info, reviews | $0.0008 per search of up to 18 hotels (standard queue), $0.004 live |
| Apify Google Hotels actor | One row per hotel and check-in date, optional booking-site prices | $0.002 per hotel and date |
SerpApi#
SerpApi's Google Hotels API takes a query, check-in and check-out dates, adults and currency, and returns properties with a property_token. Results are cached for one hour, and cached searches are free and do not count toward your monthly total. A call looks like this. It follows the parameters in SerpApi's documentation, but we have not run it against a live account, so test it with your own key:
curl -G "https://serpapi.com/search" \
--data-urlencode "engine=google_hotels" \
--data-urlencode "q=Lisbon hotels" \
--data-urlencode "check_in_date=2026-12-01" \
--data-urlencode "check_out_date=2026-12-03" \
--data-urlencode "adults=2" \
--data-urlencode "currency=USD" \
--data-urlencode "api_key=YOUR_SERPAPI_KEY"SerpApi's plans run from the free tier to $75 a month for 5,000 searches and $150 for 15,000.
DataForSEO#
DataForSEO bills per search page and offers three speeds: standard queue (up to 45 minutes), priority (about a minute) and live (about 11 seconds). Its own pages list two slightly different standard prices, $0.0008 per search and $0.00075 per hotel entity, so confirm the current rate before budgeting.
Apify actors#
One popular actor returns nightly and total prices, ratings and optional booking-site prices. It states that prices come in US dollars and that Google shows about 20 hotels per page and stops after roughly 700 hotels per search. It also says it is not an official Google API.
Caveats for all three#
- Terms and legal risk. Google's terms restrict automated access, and sources we read say risk grows with scale and commercial use. Paying a vendor does not remove that. This is not legal advice, so ask a lawyer before building a product on it.
- They are scrapers in effect. If Google changes its page, results can break or have gaps.
- Data, not bookings. Prices from Google Hotels cannot create a reservation.
- Vendor claims. Many "it just works" articles come from people who sell these tools. One we read is written by the developer of an Apify actor.
If you need to sell rooms, use a supplier API#
Google Hotels data helps with price comparison, rate tracking and research. It cannot sell a room. For that you need an official supplier or partner API: Booking.com, Expedia Rapid, Agoda or Hotelbeds. Our hotel booking API comparison covers who can get access, and our Booking.com API key guide walks through the official route and the quicker alternatives.
Which option should you choose?#
- You own or manage hotels: use Hotel Center, price feeds and, if you qualify, the Travel Partner API.
- You need hotel details for an app: use the Places API (New) and request only the fields you need.
- You need Google Hotels prices for research or a prototype: start with SerpApi's free plan, then compare DataForSEO and Apify on price.
- You need to sell rooms: apply to a supplier API, and see our best travel APIs guide.
- You need flight prices instead: read our Google Flights API guide.
A quick cost example#
We calculated this from the published prices above. Say you track 50 hotels for one check-in date every day for 30 days, which is 1,500 hotel-and-date checks. On the Apify actor at $0.002 per row, that is about $3. On SerpApi, 1,500 searches fit inside the $75 Developer plan (5,000 searches), though one search can return many hotels. Your real cost depends on how each service counts a search, so run a small test first.
Mistakes to avoid#
- Assuming the Google Travel Partner API reads prices. It manages your own Hotel Center data.
- Treating
priceLevelas a room rate. It describes a place, not a date-specific price. - Caching Google content for months. Maps Platform terms restrict this.
- Building a company on a scraper without a plan B. Pages change and terms apply.
- Showing Google Hotels prices as bookable. Always say they are indicative and link to the booking site.
- Paying for live mode when cached is fine. Price tracking rarely needs second-by-second data.
Checklist before you build#
- Wrote down whether you need to send prices, read prices or sell rooms.
- Checked Google's hotel developer pages, not a reseller's, for what an API does.
- Picked the Places API fields you need and set a field mask.
- Compared SerpApi, DataForSEO and Apify on cost per hotel checked.
- Read the current terms for each service and for Google.
- Planned for broken results when Google changes its page.
- Labeled any scraped prices as indicative.
- Spoke to a lawyer if the product is commercial.
Key takeaways#
- There is no public Google Hotel API for reading Google Hotels prices.
- Google's hotel APIs are for hotels and partners to send data in.
- The Travel Partner API is limited to trusted partners and manages your own data.
- The Places API (New) gives hotel names, ratings and locations at $20 per 1,000 Enterprise calls.
- SerpApi, DataForSEO and Apify read Google's public page. They are unofficial and carry terms risk.
- To sell rooms you need a supplier API, not Google Hotels data.
Sources we read#
We read these sources between 23 and 25 October 2026. Prices and terms change, so check each provider's own page before you commit.
Google documentation (7): Google hotel developers home, Travel Partner API reference, API authorization guide, Hotel campaigns help, Places API Place Details, Maps Platform pricing, Maps Platform terms.
Data providers (5): SerpApi Google Hotels API, SerpApi pricing, DataForSEO Google Hotels API, DataForSEO pricing, Apify Google Hotels API actor.
Other sources (5): DEV Community: There's no Google Hotels API, Trawex Google Hotel API page, BookingXML: 10 top APIs for hotels, Farrer on web scraping in hospitality, ScrapingBee Google Hotels API.
The Farrer and ScrapingBee pages we saw only through search summaries. Several of these are vendors with something to sell, so we used them for facts they can know (public prices, parameters) and flagged their opinions as theirs. The Google Maps terms page we read is dated 2018. We did not test any of these APIs with live accounts, and nothing here is legal advice.
