FAQ
Answers to the questions we get asked most.
For consumers
Is APIHiver free to use?
Creating an account and browsing is free, and many APIs have a free plan (look for Free APIs). You pay only for paid plans you choose to subscribe to.
Do I need a separate key for each API?
No. One API key works for every API you're subscribed to.
Which currency are prices in, and how do I pay?
Indian rupees (₹), billed monthly. You pay at checkout through Razorpay, using cards, UPI, net banking and other methods it offers. See Billing and payments.
What happens when I run out of requests?
On most plans calls stop with 429 QUOTA_EXCEEDED until your next billing month. Some plans allow overage instead, charging per extra request. You can switch to a bigger plan at any time and get a fresh quota immediately.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes. A paid plan stays active until the end of the month you've paid for and isn't renewed. A free plan ends immediately. You can Resume a cancelled paid plan before its month ends.
Do I get a refund if I cancel?
Cancelling stops future charges. Refunds for charges already made follow our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
Why is my call failing with 403 FORBIDDEN?
You don't have an active subscription to that API. You may never have subscribed, cancelled, or have an unpaid renewal. See Error codes.
Who do I contact if an API returns wrong data?
The provider, via the API's Discussions or Contact Provider. They know their API best. Include the X-Request-Id.
Can I call APIs from my website's JavaScript?
Avoid it: anyone could read your key from the page. Call APIs from your own server and pass the results to your front end.
For providers
What does it cost to list an API?
Creating and publishing a listing is free.
Does my API need HTTPS?
No. Your server can be plain http://IP:port. Consumers always use APIHiver's HTTPS address, and we handle the certificate.
How do I stop people calling my server directly?
Add a secret header in Gateway and reject requests without it on your server.
Can I offer a special price to one customer?
Yes, with a private plan and an invitation.
How do I get paid?
Payments for your API are shown in Revenue. Earnings are paid monthly, in arrears: a month's net earnings (after platform commission) are paid in the first week of the month after next, so August earnings arrive in the first week of October. Payouts are sent manually to your PayPal account, so add your PayPal email under Settings → Profile. Questions about a payout? Contact [email protected].
Can I change my API's name?
The name is fixed once the API is created. Contact support if it really needs correcting. Everything else can be edited at any time.
