Using APIs
Finding APIs
Browse, search, categories, collections and saved APIs.
The API Marketplace lists every public API on APIHiver. There are several ways to find the one you need.
Search
Type into the search box at the top of any page (or press ⌘K / Ctrl K), or use the search field on Browse APIs. Search matches the API's name and its short description, so try the thing you want to do ("weather", "IFSC", "QR code") rather than a company name.
Categories
Every API belongs to one category (Weather, Finance, Payments, OCR, Healthcare and so on). Pick one from the left-hand sidebar or from the chips under the search box. The number next to each category tells you how many APIs it has. Each category also has its own page, for example /categories/weather.
Collections
The tabs at the top of Browse APIs are curated collections:
| Collection | What's in it |
|---|---|
| All APIs | Everything, newest first |
| Popular APIs | Ranked by calls made through APIHiver in the last 30 days |
| Recommended APIs | Ranked by user rating, then service level, then popularity |
| Free APIs | Every API with a free plan you can start on today |
Collections and categories combine: pick a collection and then a category to narrow the list further.
Scrolling through results
Results load 24 at a time. When you reach the bottom of the list, the next batch loads automatically and is added below the ones you've already seen. If it doesn't, click Load more.
Reading an API card
Each card shows the API's name, category, creator, a one-line summary and three health figures:
- Popularity (0–10): how much the API is used, based on the last 30 days.
- Latency: the average response time over the last 30 days.
- Service level: the share of calls in the last 30 days that succeeded.
A dash (—) means there isn't enough traffic yet to measure.
Saving APIs for later
Click the heart icon on an API's listing to save it. You'll find everything you've saved under Console → Saved APIs.
