Getting started
Quick start: use an API
From sign-up to your first successful API call in five steps.
This guide takes you from nothing to a successful API call. It uses the free Basic plan, so you don't need to pay anything to follow it.
1. Create an account
Go to Sign up, enter your name, email and a password, and confirm your email address using the link we send you. See Your account for details.
2. Find an API
Open the API Marketplace. Search by keyword, pick a category, or browse the collections (Popular, Recommended, Free). Click an API to open its listing and read what it does. See Finding APIs.
3. Subscribe to a plan
On the API's Pricing tab, choose a plan and click Start Free Plan (or Subscribe for a paid plan). A confirmation window shows exactly what you will pay today. For a free plan that's ₹0. See Subscribing to a plan.
4. Get your API key
Open Console → API Keys and create a key if you don't have one yet. The same key works for every API you subscribe to. See API keys.
5. Make your first call
The fastest way is the playground: open any endpoint of the API, fill in the parameters and click Test Endpoint. Your key is added automatically and the real response appears on the right.
From your own code, send the request to the API's gateway address with your key in the X-API-Key header:
curl "https://weather.p.apihiver.com/v1/current?city=Mumbai" \
-H "X-API-Key: YOUR_API_KEY"The Code Snippets tab on every endpoint gives you this request ready-made in several languages. See Making requests.
What next
- Watch your usage in Console → Analytics and Console → Request Logs.
- Check your remaining quota in Console → Billing → Usage, or read it from the rate-limit headers on every response.
- When you need more calls, switch to a bigger plan.
